Summary
In one line: His son Andrew asked: "How do people tell the Holy Spirit's voice from the devil's?" — There is no protection against the enemy's voice, only against his acts; you must discern it.
Key points
- By nature we were under "the prince of the power of the air" (Ephesians 2:2) — prone to hear Satan; "sounds good" or "feels kind" doesn't mean it's God.
- The Lord appeared to him at age 6; he is 38 — "32 years hearing God" — yet he has made mistakes; discernment grows with experience.
- The devil spoke to Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1). Before every promotion temptation appears; testing and temptation look identical on the surface — only the Spirit tells them apart.

hear me by the spirit of God. I was driving with my son Andrew and Andrew's been, you know, doing his driving thing and um he asked me a very intelligent question. He said, "Dad, how can people differentiate those who don't know like we have been graced to know?
How can somebody know
the difference between the voice of the Holy Spirit
and the voice of a devil?
That was a very profound question. And I looked at him, I was like, "Dang, sir, you're smart." No, seriously, because everybody thinks they can hear from God.
But most people don't know they hear from the devil.
Y'all are looking at me really strange.
The Bible says when we were children of disobedience, we were ruled under the prince of the power of the air. Meaning, you are naturally prone to hear Satan than to hear the Holy Spirit. In fact, the reason why we rebel against God is because it is our nature to hear of unclean spirit to receive from devils to receive doctrines of devils camouflaged as God that we cannot separate the voice of God from the voice of the enemy. This is a reality. If you are honest, you know what I'm telling you is true.
Because just because something has sounds good does not mean it is God.
Just because something feels kind does not mean that it is God. Just because something feels kind.
And there's a reason why I'm using the word feel. Because in a second you will understand your biggest danger is who you are listening to.

I have been privileged by God by his mercies that the Lord appeared to me when I was a young boy at six. I started walking in the spirit. Not because I pray better than you. Not because I am holier than thou. Maybe more than Benny, but not you.
But I have made mistakes. I have failed. I have gotten it wrong many times. And it is part of growing. But spiritually, the Lord graced me when I was young. The things I know and I teach. I can't even tell you when I came to know them. They have just been in me because I've walked with God for such a long time. I am 38 years old. For 32 years, I've been hearing God.
So I know by virtue of experience, what his voice is and what his voice is not. And what you learn very quickly as you mature spiritually, you realize you cannot rebuke the voice that speaks to you. You cannot stop it.
You have to discern it.
That's good.

There is no protection against the voice of the enemy.
There is protection against the acts of the enemy.
There is nowhere in the Bible that God says, "I will silence a demon from talking to you." He doesn't exist. If the devil could talk to Jesus Christ,
the son of God, while he's fasting and praying, filled with the Holy Ghost.
Yeah, I feel like I'm preaching to myself when you're preaching. I know you have been told otherwise, but it's a lie. Jesus is immersed into the waters of Jordan. John the Baptist baptizes Jesus. Jesus comes out of the water. The spirit of God descends upon him and he's filled with the Holy Spirit and the Lord leads him into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. Meaning just because you're filled with the Holy Spirit, you're not immune to temptation.
That's good.
In fact, every time God is about to promote you, temptation will present itself so that you can discern the difference between the blessing of God and Amen.

You will never know the difference between being tested and being tempted if you don't know the voice of God.
And you cannot separate the voice of the spirit of God from an evil spirit. You will not know what is temptation and what is testing.
Because somebody that is undiscerning will think temptation is testing and they will think testing is temptation because on the surface they look the same.
On the surface they look exactly the same. You cannot tell the difference unless you have the spirit of God in you. Amen.
